THE FESTIVAL / PROGRAMME

In line with our 2016 festival production, we aim to create an immersive experience hosting a variety of artforms and discussions. Our vision is to present a diverse perspective on what the Arctic means to people who live in it, visit it, and are inspired by it, by producing a festival featuring diverse artforms and media, and artists from all around the Arctic and the world.

For our 2017 festival we launched a pilot artArctica residency 2017, which took place one week before the festival. During the residency hosted ten artists from different countries and disciplines, who worked intensively in developing previous work and producing new work in collaborations, which was presented at the festival during the evening performances. Alongside the showcases from the residency, we also hosted a variety of artists from around the world and various disciplines.

artArctica festival 2017 was supported by Nordisk Kulturfond, Kulturkontakt Nord, and Helsinki Culture Centre.
