WHAT
As part of our artArctica festival 2017 (Helsinki 9-11.2.2017) we are launching an open call to all artists, researchers, or other creatives and explorers who want to participate and be part of this wonderfully fresh immersive festival experience.
Our vision is to present different perspectives on the Arctic, the nature, people, arts, and create an immersive experience where visitors can create their own narrative as they experience all the different artworks and events during the three days of the festival.
We have an allocated sum of our budget for supporting accepted open call proposals, to cover material, transport, and/or setting up expenses. Details will be arranged on a case-to-case basis.
There is no limit to the number of proposals we will accept, as long as we can reasonably fit everything in the space. In the space there is a PA and sound system for music performances, some degree of light design capabilities, and plenty of physical space to move around and put things. If you have any specific requests or questions, please get in touch and we can help to clarify or send the full tech-specs.
This is open to anyone whose work connects to the Arctic in some way. If you have an idea for a panel discussion, a weird installation with snowflakes, a photography exhibition, presenting your new book or research, or just share an inspiring story — we are looking for you!
APPLY
Send us an email to artarcticaproject@gmail.com and include some information on who you are, and tell us more about your idea. We are interested to hear how you aim to draw in the audience through your art/discussion/event. (Don’t forget to also mention technical requirements.)
You may also submit an incomplete project idea, if you have inspiration to start working on something. Last year we had numerous such projects which turned out to be great successes.
DEADLINE
Deadline for applications: 30 September 2016.
Note: You can send an application even after the deadline — however, we will prioritise our budget for proposals submitted on time.
